What's happening around Nexus

To celebrate the start of a new season, the community came together for a BBQ.

Our Nexus community has seen a lot of exciting changes take place over the last six months. We’ve seen the completion of the newly-created facades at 2, 4, & 6 Nexus Court, and welcomed new faces to our Facilities Team. With the turn of the season, we thought it would be the perfect time to take the time to show our appreciation to the community for your continued understanding and support as we reinvigorated the Nexus precinct.

On Wednesday 27 September, our community came together for a BBQ. A special thank you to our onsite retailer Arbor Cafe for catering – we all loved the food! Footy fever was taking over the building so it only seemed right to host an AFL handball competition.

We’re proud to support R U OK? Day, which is why we host an event each year to mark this important occasion and spread awareness.

R U OK? Day encourages us to check in on friends, family, and colleagues and ask that all-important question, ‘Are you okay?’

We had a fabulous lineup of activities to help take care of your physical and mental wellbeing, as well as your social health. If you missed it, or simply want to re-live it, check out the highlights below.

We wanted to help our community get in on the spirit of the day, so on Tuesday 13 September, we hosted a sound healing meditation with Dorothea from Sydasana Workplace Wellness. Dorothea delivered a very powerful session that utilised a ‘sound bath’ style. She used different unique instruments including a gong, a wave drum (for ocean waves), and multiple steel drums. It was a relaxing experience that helped our community alleviate stress and ground themselves.

On Thursday 14 September, the official R U OK? Day, we asked the Community to pop by Arbor Cafe to spin the Nexus Wheel of Wellness. There were plenty of prizes to be scooped up including fidget toys, bath bombs, and weighted eye masks. It was also a great way to create a shared safe space and give people the opportunity to start a serious conversation.

On Monday 27 April, we invited our Nexus Community to pop down 1 Nexus and try your hand at slot car racing.

Despite the gloomy weather, we had an amazing turnout with over 60 racers participating in non-stop races between new friends and old, all of who went in the running to be crowned the 2023 Nexus Slot Car Racing Champion. However, we didn’t stop there; to sweeten the pot we also had a few goodies to give away.

For the racer with the fastest recorded track time we awarded two 2023 Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix Stewart Grandstand Friday Day-Pass Adult Tickets, valued at $105 RRP each! We also awarded a Grand Prix merchandise pack to the players who clocked the second and third fastest times.

It was a close call right up to the end when Esteban snatched up the winner’s title with only a few minutes left to participate. Such a close call in fact that his record winning time was won by a matter of milliseconds… 168 milliseconds to be exact!
